OVERVIEW
The Autobrake 2000 combines automated bending of angles up to 145° , material clamping and material support into a single CNC controlled system employing wing bending techniques.

SYSTEM FEATURES
INTEGRATED SHEET SUPPORT AND MATERIAL POSITIONING:
Workpieces are fully supported by the table beneath the clamping jaw, and automatically positioned to an accuracy of +/- .005" by the computer controlled automatic gauge.

The backgauge is driven by a servo motor for low noise operation. The servo motor automatically recovers from backgauge displacements as high as .625 inches.

Sheets up to 700 lbs can be accommodated.

14 conveniently spaced backgauge fingers provide positive contact with the sheet edge at all times. Fingers will travel down to 0.0" position.

Maximum 61" backgauge travel in under 3 seconds is provided by three stage design combining high speed with compact space requirement.

AUTOMATIC DUAL CLAMPING SYSTEM:
Clamping pressure exerted by the jaw is variable to accommodate a wide variety of materials, thickness’ and finishes.
No tool change is required to create open, closed, or tear drop hems.
Open height can be programmed for ease of part handling.

A2000 CNC CONTROL SYSTEM:
Integrates the operation of positioning gauge, wing bender, and clamping mechanisms.
The control has an on-board stage capacity of 3328 steps.
Stores up to 255 programs. Each program may have a maximum of 99 operations.
Each operation may be programmed as a radius macro for forming of complex shapes. Each radius macro may contain 255 bends.
Programmed angles are entered in 1/10th degree increments, allowing precise control over bend angle results.
Absolute or incremental programming are possible.
RS232 port is standard for additional memory capacity and DNC programming.

The A2000 control incorporates an auxiliary liquid crystal display (LCD for expanded features)
These features include:
Program names of up to 16 characters
Positive and negative angle compensation entered in 1/10th degree increments
Programmable backgauge finger delay for work piece rotation
Backgauge pause: pause is released by activating the footswitch
Radius macro programming: bump-bending or wing-bending
Positive or negative backgauge offset for hemming

The A2000 uses the LCD display to access and enter all of the control/machine setup values and routines. Access to these settings is password protected.

CONSTRUCTION:
Each end housing is a rigid casting with mass to house the actuation systems for the beam and the folding leaf, and maintain the loads created by their operation. Integral to the inside of the end housings are the way with non-metallic adjustable gibing to guide retain the beam.

Clamping and hemming are programmed. The beam is driven to programmed settings by a brake motor rotating the adjustable eccentric driving the connecting shaft into spring washers to provide variable clamping pressures with a shock-absorbing end stop.

The folding beam consists of a reinforced welded construction for maximum resistance to bending forces with a machined groove to receive the standard .750” or the thin .250" bending bars. A micrometer nut setting at each end of the beam allows adjustment for large variations in material thickness.

The lower beam is a box section fabricated of thick steel attached to the end housings to resist bending forces, and is stress relieved to maintain accurate bends through a lifetime of use. A machined lower clamping bar is fixed to the lower beam for firm, accurate clamping.

OPTIONAL "VSD" BENDING SYSTEM:
The Variable Speed Drive system is available for precision control of the bending beam is radius forming applications. This system provides precise control over the small angles used to produce these radius forms. Standard bends are also enhanced, improving bend accuracy to + ½ degree.

The system includes a variable speed drive, DB resistor assembly, installation and testing. The CNC control system on the Autobrake is equipped to control and monitor the VSD system and allows adjustment of the reduced speed settings to accommodate the customer’s application.
